NHL Conference Semifinals

Stanley Cup

I know, I know, there were already seven games played in the conference semifinals, but I only had time to talk about them today. Besides, with the exception of the Chicago and Minnesota series (which I’ll elaborate more about it in the following lines) the other series are tied or there was only one game played.

Anyway, without further ado, let’s talk about those exciting hockey games that are coming our way.

Eastern Conference

Boston Bruins vs. Montréal Canadiens: That’s the greatest rivalry in hockey, which makes for a rather unpredictable game. As I said in my other post, I’m totally biased when it comes to talk about the Bruins because that’s the team I root for and because I love Boston. The Bruins will have to win at least one game in Canada to regain home-ice advantage. It will be very tough, but I’m confident they can make it. The coming from 3 to 1 behind victory Saturday boosted their morale. Bruins 4-3.

NY Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins: Both teams had tough series to get here. And it’s a great battle because probably the greatest goaltender in hockey (Henrik Lundqvist) plays for the Rangers and the greatest hockey player in the world (Sidney Crosby) plays for the Penguins. Overall I think the Penguins have indeed a better team and will prevail, but it won’t be easy. Penguins 4-2.

Western Conference

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Minnesota Wild: This is the easiest of all games. I know Minnesota plays really well at home, but I don’t think they can play so well to let them win even one game against the current champions and best team in the league. Chicago is already up 2-0 and should probably wrap up the series in Minnesota. Blackhawks 4-0.

Los Angeles Kings vs. Anaheim Ducks: And what do you know? A California derby! I thought the LA team was dead and buried in their series against the Sharks when they went down 3-0. But they resurrected and are now leading this series 1-0. I think Anaheim is a better team, but the Kings are very excited right now and will be tough to beat. Besides, I would love to watch a Blackhawks/Kings series. LA 4-3.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with my NBA Conference semifinals predictions.
